Yuck

I’m helping Alyssa get ready for school , we have a very specific routine we follow . She tends to be crabby . I sit on her bed and set out her clothes shirt pants and underwear in a pile . I then sit on her bed and prompt her to take off her bed clothes ect. Sometimes there is a lot of prompting , sometimes she does it on her own . She does a lot of verbal protesting and can be very loud .

A lot if times I go on my phone
Until she gets over the yelling . Well today she is getting dressed and I am looking at my phone and she is saying yuck yuck. At first I’m thinking nothing of it and then I look and she is sitting up looking at her shirt . I’ll be honest her laundry needs to be done so were out if the typical cycle .

So she looks at her shirt and says yuck again . She doesn’t like her shirt !! She thinks it’s ugly šŸ˜‚
I can totally see why because it’s not the usual colors she wears haha . So I say you don’t want to wear that ? She shakes her head no and I say ok put it back and get another one — and she does.

She just communicated !!! She doesn’t do that .. So many little things just happened.

She decided she didn’t like her shirt .
She figured out a way to verbally communicate that
She broke her routine and put it back and choose another one herself
She put the new shirt on herself

It doesn’t sound like much but it’s huge !! And kind of funny

With non verbal you have to listen and watch they find ways to communicate . Also she thinks she’s quite funny šŸ’™šŸ’™šŸ’™
